For seven incredible days, 2 ½ year old Rex traveled with his family to Orlando, Florida to rest, play, and dine like royalty at the beautiful Give Kids the World Village. After various treatments for Rex’s stage 4 Neuroblastoma, this trip was all about escaping the reality of the sometimes overwhelming stress that can come with certain illnesses.
Their magical days at the Walt Disney World Resort® were packed with fun adventures and provided the perfect getaway! From late night dance parties, to horseback riding and fireworks, the excitement was never ending. Rex and his sister were even given VIP access to the front of lines where their favorite characters sprung to life right before their eyes!
Rex’s mom Lesley said, “We traveled to Orlando to celebrate our family, Rex’s health, and a beautiful journey we’ve experienced these past 18 months – including each joyful and frightening turn in the winding path we travel. Our seven days in paradise allowed us the perfect escape and respite from the realities our family, and the other families at the Village, face in returning to the real world.”
Rex’s trip ended with a wish upon a star, which was hung in the Wish Tower at Give Kids The World . It now joins hundreds of other stars in their own special galaxy- ignited entirely for superheroes like him.
Rex’s mother will be giving back to the Make-A-Wish by rappelling at this year’s Over The Edge event- a fundraising opportunity that helps make wishes like Rex’s come true!
